Belgium Man Made Attraction

St. Micheal and Gudula Cathederal is located in Brussels, Belgium.

Belgium has freedom of religion like United States. Which means you can practice any type of religion like U.S. However, there remains Roman catholic church. St. Michael and Gudula cathederal is a example of the Roman catholic church influence.

This cathederal is a symbolism of Christianity in Belgium and a national landmark for tourist attraction purposes. In addition, this cathederal is still in practice and opens mass to public on weekly basis.

The Geography of Belgium




-Belgium is located in Western Europe, bordering the North Sea, between France and the Netherlands.


-Belgium shares borders with France, Germany, Luxembourg and Netherlands.


-Belgium is crossroads of Western Europe. Majority of West European capitals and the seat of both the EU and NATO.


-Belgium is covering a total area of 30,528 sq km with a land area of 30,278 sq km and 250 sq km of water.


-Belgium is divided into three main geopraphical regions; coastal plain in the North West, the central plateau and the Ardennes uplands in the South East.

The Climate in Belgium



Belgium is characterized by mild winters and cool summers on the coast but the climate becomes more severe as you go further inland. During summer, days are sunny and pleasant, averaging in the low 20°Cs (low 70°Fs). Winters are usually overcast and frosty, often dropping a couple of degrees below zero (around 28°F). Coastal regions experience milder winters. Mild rainfall is consistent throughout the year. Average annual rainfall is between 70 and 100 cm (28 to 40 in).
-The best time to visit: May to September (summer), Christmas and carnival (January to Febrary)

The Famous Belgian


Audrey Hepburn (1929~1993)

She was Academy Award winning actress, fashion model and humanitarian. She was born in Brussels of an English father and Dutch mother.


She performed less than 30 films during her entire life. The most famous movie that made her a star was Roman holiday.


Audrey had the reputation of being a humble, kind and charming person, who lived the philosophy of putting others before herself. She showed this side particularly towards the end of her life in her work for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). New Woman magazine called Audrey the most beautiful woman of all time, in a 2006 poll. She was ranked as the third greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute.


Audrey died of colorectal cancer on 20 January 1993, in Switzerland at the age of 63, and was interred there.

The History of Belgium

1. By 51BC, the Belgae were overrun by the armies of Julius Caesar.

2. The Romans called their new province Gallia Belgica.

3. After the Roman Empire collapsed in 5th century, the Franks managed to install a new kingdom under the rule of the Merovingian Dynasty.

4. January 1831 Belgium was granted independence from the Dutch.

5. Belgium was occupied by the Germans in 1940.

6. Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg founded the Benelux Union in 1957.

7. The Congo in Africa remained a Belgian colony until 1960.

8. After World War Ⅱ Brussels became the capital of EU.

9. Brussels is the headquarters of the NATO.

10. The current king is Baudouin's brother, Albert Ⅱ.

Welcome to Belgium











I've never been Belgium before. When I was 22years old, I treveled some countries in Europe, but I couldn't go Belgium. Actually I don't know well about Belgium. I just heard that the capital, Brussels is very beautiful city. So I really wanted visit there. Yeh..it is unkown country for me yet. That is why I chose Belgium.
